Sanders, 76, of Rooney Road, West Chazy, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He was born in Worcester, MA on October 22, 1946, the son of William and Julia (Vilkas) Sanders.

    Tom served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1984. Tom served in Vietnam and was stationed at bases across the United States. He retired as a Master Sargent from Plattsburgh Air Force.

    Tom then began working as a License Clerk at the Clinton County Department of Motor Vehicle. He retired after 34 years in 2018.

    Tom was a parishioner and very active at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy with his wife, Claudia. Together they received the Bishop Wadham's Award and taught religious education and Pre-Cana.

    He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; they were the light of his life.

    Tom was predeceased by his parents and a brother Paul Sanders.

    He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Claudia Sanders; their children, Thomas Sanders and his wife, Deena of Balston Spa, NY, and Michelle Rugar and her husband, Jeffery of Morrisonville, five grandchildren; James (Samantha) Sanders; Ryan Sanders, Sara Sanders, Morgan Rugar and Matthew Rugar, his siblings; George (Carla) Sanders, James (Joretta) Sanders, Fr. Bill Sanders, Ann Marie (Robert) Holland, Mary Jane Howard, Julie (Cliff) Welsh and Rosemary (Dave) Bengtson, several nieces, and nephews also survive him and a godchildren; Lyndsay Kelly, Christina Pijanowski, and Corrie Clements.

    Calling hours will be Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Christian burial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Entombment will follow at the Town of Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum.

    Donations in Tom's memory may be made to St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.
